For our Marston Christmas this year, my Mom, Krystyna, rented an awesome house in one of our favorite towns on the Oregon Coast, Yachats, for the three of us and our pups.

The three bedroom house had amazing ocean views, with large windows throughout the living room and kitchen from which we enjoyed watching the waves break over the rocky shoreline below.

Despite my still being in a cast post ankle surgery, we managed to stay busy and have a great time over the long weekend. The pups had a blast as well, taking full advantage of the large field in the back of the house for numerous frisbee fetching outings.

Of course we also found plenty of time to just kick back and relax. One of my favorite spots was the window seat just off the kitchen, from which I enjoyed reading my new Canadian mystery while taking breaks to enjoy the ocean view.

Being in Yachats we couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit our favorite restaurant there, the Drift Inn, for dinner. We feasted on steamer clams, fish soup, chowder, and sea food lasagna. Yum!

Later that night we came back to the house to relax, sipping on my mom's famous spiked egg nog, and opening presents. The dogs were equally curious and excited to find out what was hidden in the colorful wrapped packages sitting in the living room!

Hans' main present from me was the Farmers of the Moore expansion to the farming board game Agricola. After studying up on the multi-page rule book, we spent the majority of Saturday afternoon playing multiple games as it stormed outside.

That night and the next morning a big storm rolled through, bringing waves 9ft above high tide level! We got quite the view of these huge waves from the rocky bluff at the back of the house on Sunday morning, quite the send-off for a great weekend at the Coast.
